Global Billboard visualises the popularity of top artists and top tracks on Last.fm in (nearly) every country in the world, and in more than 200 metro areas. Using the map it is possible to check out which are the most listened to artists and tracks on Last.fm in different countries.

Brazilian Bike Routes on Google Maps

En Vou de Bike

En Vou de Bike is a Brazilian bike route generator with some nice features.

En Vou de Bike uses Google Maps to provide bike directions. To add a starting point to the map you can just drag the green bike icon onto the map. To add your destination you can drag the red 'pare' icon to the location you wish to end up.

Your route is then calculated and displayed on the map and the directions are shown in the map sidebar. Each route generated is saved and you can browse the already generated routes on the Mapas e Rotas.

UK Ethnicity on Google Maps

Ethnic Breakdown for England and Wales

In the UK the Office for National Statistics has released data showing how many people from each ethnic group are estimated to live where across England and Wales. The Guardian has used the data to create this Google Map.

It is possible to select the ethnic group you wish to view on the map from a drop-down menu. The map then updates to show the percentages of that group living across England and Wales.

The Guardian received a lot of negative comments for it's Google Map of the UK Alternative Vote Referendum a couple of weeks ago. Readers were very unimpressed that the AV map didn't have a map key. The Guardian seem to have listened to the criticisms and for this map have provided a key that updates automatically for each ethnic group selected.

Mapping Wild Camels with Google Maps

Australia is being plagued by feral camels. More than 1 million camels are roaming the Australian desert causing damage to water supplies and disturbing Aboriginal communities.

CamelScan is a new crowdsouced project that allows anyone to report sightings of feral camels in Australia on a Google Map. Through this initiative CamelScan will be able to develop a regional map and national picture of where feral camels occur, and work out where they congregate in different seasons.

By mapping the damage caused by camels, CamelScan can help to identify when, where and how to control feral camels in order to reduce the damage they cause.

360 Degree Panoramas on Google Maps

360verse

360 Panorama is an iPhone app that lets you create 360 degree panoramas with your phone's camera. 360verse is the app's website where users can showcase their captured interactive panoramas on a Google Map.

The map does a good job to show the location where panoramas were taken. Strangely however there is no way to explore the submitted panorama's geographically. The only way to explore the panoramas is chronologically via the map's 'previous' and 'next' buttons.

Why present the images on a map if you don't allow the user to select to view the panoramas by location? Looking at the map I can see that someone has submitted 360 degree panoramas of Cambodia but I can't view them except by repeatedly clicking the 'next' button until I get to them.

This map has the potential to be a great showcase for the 360 Panorama iPhone app but it still needs a little work on the user interface.
