More Free WiFi Google Maps Apps

The Google Map shows Fon WiFi Hotspots worldwide and can be searched by location.



WeFi is a free app for mobile phones and desktop computers that automatically detects Wi-Fi access points within range and connects users to the spot with the best Internet connection.

The WeFi Map is a Google Map of all the access points discovered by WeFi users around the world.

Finding WiFi Venues with Google Maps

WorkSnug

If you are tired of working out of coffee shops then you might want to give WorkSnug a go. WorkSnug uses Google Maps to show you your nearest workspaces with WiFi access.

To find your nearest workspace you just need to enter your location. The results will show you the nearest coffee shops with WiFi but will also show you nearby libraries and other communal spaces where you can work.

If you click on a mapped workspace you can click through to read details about the venue, which includes information about the availability of power, refreshments and the noise levels.

Belfast Wi-Fi Hotspots on Google Maps

BelFi

As part of a university course in Interactive Multimedia Design Andrew McCrum created this Google Maps mashup showing Wi-Fi hotspots in and around Belfast, Northern Ireland.

BelFi shows the location of free and paid Wi-Fi hotspots on a Google Map. The markers are colour-coded to show which spots are free and which spots need to be paid for. If you know of a Wi-Fi hotspot that isn't currently featured on the map you can submit the spot to BelFi.

Que Wifi

Quewifi.es is a website to find WiFi hotspots in Spain. Below the Google Map are a number of links to Spanish towns with WiFi hotspots. Clicking on one of these links will zoom the map to that location.

The WiFi hotspots displayed on the map are also listed below the map. Clicking on one of these links, or on the map marker, will load a page with detailed information about that hotspot. The details page includes a Google Map and Street View of the selected location as well as information about the signal quality and speed of the available WiFi.
