Follow 4Chan on Google Maps

localchan

localchan is a Google Maps mashup that lets you follow threads on the 4chan bulletin board directly from a map.

Discussion threads are displayed on the map with heart shaped map markers. If you click on a map marker the thread loads in a window overlaid on the map. The locations of 4chan users who have replied to the thread are shown on the map and a line connects each of the markers to show the chronology of the discussion.

If you click any of the user names in the discussion thread window the map will centre on that user's location. It is even possible to join in any of the 4Chan discussion threads by clicking on the 'reply' button.

Mapping and Chatting

Geo Talk

Geo Talk lets you create a forum centred on any location in the world. The site is a mashup of Google Maps and Disqus which allows a user to create a forum simply by placing a marker on a location in Google Maps.

Each location forum gets a unique URL, which can then be shared with friends or used on a website or blog. Using Geo Talk it is possible to set up a chat room about a bar, cafe, city or any other point of information or location. In fact your chat doesn't have to be about a location, the subject can be anything, it just needs to be centred on a particular location.

Live Video Chat on Google Maps

Simple Guide Tool

This Google Maps mashup should prove very useful when you need to give someone directions or you want to show someone something on Google Maps. Using the site you can guide your friends around places you know using Google Maps, Street View and live chat.

Once you have set up a chat room the map state is synchronised across the different users, so if you move the map the other members of the chat room will see the same map movements. The chat application even has a video option, which means users can use their webcams to broadcast live video chat whilst sharing information on Google Maps.
